The Promise of Dawn
By agalam

Dusk displays a placid and gentle mystic sky
Stars begin peering through thin clouds, brilliant but shy
Mountains are silhouetted like great walls from a distance
I am charmed of the scene, heart and mind in a trance.

River streaming in dark silver glow
Reflecting a complexion of a beautiful radiant you
Faded and wiped out by the approaching night
To be cherished by heart and missed by sight.

The soft whispering of the wind of dusk
Awakens all emotions my hesitant heart would often ask
Will morning herald me with my most solemn plea?
For you to be the dawn welcoming me to a new promising day.

Will the night be the phantom gap that will hinder to rally,
My most treasured fantasy and tomorrow’s promised reality?
Will its coldness turn every colorful memory to gray,
Or will it bridge the echoes that my heart desires and fervently pray?

The mystic moon showers the night with its golden light
All my hopes rise like wildflowers blossoming at midnight
Tinting the breeze with the scent of the undeniably growing passion
Paving the way that will take us to the promise of dawn.

An Orgy of Love, Hate and Anger

Posted in anger, Beauty, inspiration, Life, Love, meditation, reflection, religion at 10:45 pm by agalam

The Holy Scripture mentioned anger 150 times, hate 70 times and love 160 times, from both the New and Old Testaments. I would not assert that those figures are correct if our parish priest or anybody that receives communion every Sunday will refute the validity of those numbers. Curious where I got those numbers? Well, I love to read, but it is such a shame that I do not take the effort to scan the Bible, much more tallying the frequency of the use of certain words in the entire book. Having a sting on conscience (the book on Contemporary Ethics presents different kind of conscience, I don’t know which one I have), I downloaded an electronic copy of the Bible. It felt good (honest!), having something sacred stored on the PC. But again, I was contemplating if I made a right decision given that some porno stuffs are also stored in the hard drive. (I really have to qualify what kind of conscience I have). Using the free software I downloaded, I was able to obtain those statistics. So what?

Today starts the Holy Week for us Catholics. Let this be my share of reflections, not in an eremitic way, nor in dramatic rhapsody.

Life indeed is filled with paradoxes. The Bible narrates the limitless love of God and the magnitude of His anger. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son… But in His rage, He sent floods and rains of fires to topple down His enemies. In His anger, is there hate?

17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. (Revealations)

As humans, we have the innate capacity to love. In impulse, we declare our hatred and anger. Anger is a natural human fault, an innate weakness, a legacy of Cain.

4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (John I)

What about if you are freed from the pitfall of anger and hatred, but don’t extend love to your neighbors, would that make a difference? There is an apparent imbalance of love and apathy in today’s world, with apathy slowly gaining the race.

We are rational beings, presumably immune to basal temptations. But we are more preoccupied with our own personal motives, not minding the people around, especially those who are of no use for us.

In this season of Lent, let’s not simply say our prayers. We should pray our prayers to restore the reign of love in the heart of mankind.

4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (Philippians)

Have a meaningful week. Spread the love.
